Finding Yourself Dealing With Online Advertising

Feb 04

Whenever you are surfing the web you are finding more and more advertising assaulting you on your journey from site to site. Many things will vie for your attention. These sites have everything from travel to retail to sites for Green Card renewal that can help you to get your US Green Card or your US Visas.

For most of us this is just a normal cost of being online. In fact, like television, unless the ads are annoying most of us pretty much look right past them. However there are those times when you might be in a hurry to find something and those ads just seem to get on your nerves.

It’s usually when you are trying to do something important like getting together the information you need got your Green Card renewal or applying for your US Visa or US Green Card that these online advertising assaults tend to get on your nerves and make you more than a little angry.

It is ever so seldom that a person is just wasting time on the Internet and gets annoyed at the advertising.  In fact, most folks don’t even really see the ads and we fairly much seem to program ourselves to block them out when we are just on there for fun. And yet if there is something that we desperately need to get done it seems like all we can focus on is the ads as they pull us here and there. And with the new roll over ads that come to life at any time that your mouse gets near them seem to make it nearly impossible to get anything accomplished?

So what is the average surfer supposed to do to get around these things and have a decent experience while on line?

Well, there are a few different options that can make things more enjoyable. Many of the newer pop up blockers on the market do a fair job at catching what is out there now and yet it seems like these companies that do the advertising design new ways around them so that you have to spend more time updating your settings and downloading new pieces for the program. Lately a lot of folks set firewalls to not allow a lot of these in but that can seriously slow down your computer to the point of painfully crawling around the web.

Another way around these unwanted intrusions is to find someone that knows more about a computer and get them to show you how to set your browser to reject most of the HTML and use mainly text based browsing. While this will not be as pretty as your GUI Windows interface that you are likely in love with, it will make your experience faster at the times that you are truly in a hurry and not in the mood for ads.

You can later re-set these settings to the good old graphic interface when you are ready to get back to your pleasure surfing.

There are many ways to advertise online. If you are willing to spend the time and make the effort yourself you can practice your own marketing techniques online and you won’t have to pay a dime. These things include sites like YouTube, FaceBook, blogs, and much more.

Paying for marketing isn’t the same as what it used to be. It used to cost a company thousands of dollars to have the opportunity to be seen for just a few seconds in an ad or in one day of the daily newspapers. The ads you would pay for would limit you to the amount of words you had the ability to put in the ad and you often found you were cutting things too short or leaving out important information. The Internet gives you the ability to say what you want to say and you are not limited. You can write on and on about your business if you are willing to take the time. There is no limit to online advertising.

One of the great things about the net is that there are many sites that integrate Web 2.0, which allows you to post your own comments to other sites that you do not own. One way to advertise for free is by posting to these sites your advertisements about your business. This way the visitors who come to the site can read your postings and find out about you. One very popular site is YouTube. This is a video site that people like to post their own videos and people can make comments on them. If you are selling artificial Christmas trees then this gives you a big opportunity. You can go to holiday videos and talk about their white Christmas trees and offer your artificial Christmas trees at your site. The best videos to choose are those with a lot of viewers.

FaceBook is another Web 2.0 site that is essentially a networking site. This site is designed to connect people together. It may be for people who are looking for friends or people to hang out with because they just moved to a new town or it may be for someone looking for a new soul mate. Some people use a site like this to find old friends and family members they lost touch with many years ago. Whatever the reason, it is an excellent place to advertise and it is free to use. You can create a page for your business and start requesting friends. As you build your network you will find that you drive more traffic to your site.

Blogging is very popular and an excellent method for advertising. It is one of the favored methods today because it allows you to create inbound links, talk about your business, create hype, and more. Blogging online is another free method.

There are many ways to advertise on the Internet. If you don’t have the money but you do have the time then you can practice many of these techniques to get the word out about your business. This will help you drive traffic to your site and increase revenues.
